Doctor Belus and her 3 ways to Boosting the Immune System

1

Sleep

This is my number one recommendation. Most adults need at least 7 hours of sleep per night, and most of us are getting less than that. What’s worse, the quality of our sleep is decreasing thanks to blue lights from our screens, overconsumption of alcohol & caffeine or inconsistent sleep and wake times. If you can get 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep per night and wake feeling rested, you know you are doing your immune system a lot of good!
2

Eat A Diet High In Antioxidants & Probiotics

So many of the patients I work with don’t eat enough brightly coloured fruits & vegetables or probiotic rich foods (yogurt, kefir, kimchi, sauerkraut etc.). These are staples when it comes to repairing and strengthening the immune and gut. Don’t underestimate the importance of adding in an extra serving of these powerful foods each day.
3

Reduce Stress

Take time to get out in nature for a walk, or pause for a few moments and focus on slowly breathing. Stress reduction is a practice, and the more ‘breaks’ we can give our body the better it can reset and restore our immune function to its optimal level.
